The guru has been involved with tea emotionally since a young person but professionally for over 12 years. Initially a scientist with a degree in Chemistry and a PhD in natural products (chemical substances that natural organisms – plants, animals – manufacture) the guru has worked on spider venom, frog skin toxins and soya antioxidants previously.
The Guru has worked professionally in the trade for over 12 years in technical capacities from lead scientist in Unilever R&D (owners of the Lipton and Brooke Bond brands amongst others)function to head of R & D and then Technical director for James Finlay - a major tea grower and processor . He also sit on national and international tea committees and trade councils such as UK Tea Council, ISO and US Tea Association technical committee.
He travels extensively in the tea community with frequent visits to both producer and consumer countries presenting to various audiences on all aspects of tea as well as contributing to books and magazines on subjects such as tea and health, the social and historical impact of tea and technical subjects.
